AWS Architect

Description:

Architect, develop, and maintain the client's cloud environment in both commercial and government AWS cloud. Build, maintain, and operate IaaS and PaaS infrastructure in AWS. Select appropriate AWS services based on data, compute, database, or security requirements. Identify appropriate use of AWS architectural best practices. Work with development teams to define and measure SLOs, SLAs, and SLIs.

Contribute to the development of platform services including architecture, provisioning, configuration, deployment, and support. Integrate with central logging, metrics dashboards, instrumentation, and incident monitoring tools. Automate alerts for performance, cost, vulnerabilities, risk, and compliance. Improve processes and advocate for automation of manual support tasks.

Build and administer systems and tools that enable engineering teams to observe applications in production (Dashboards, APMs). Assist in identifying and resolving technical problems by implementing automation, self-healing, and real-time monitoring. Maintain and improve operational tooling and frameworks. Build frameworks for testing performance and resiliency of platform services.

Requirements:

SRE role. Strong knowledge of AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, S3, ECS, CloudFormation, Lambda, EKS, RDS, ELB, Route53, RedShift, Chime, Connect). Expert, hands-on experience in Kubernetes (EKS or AKS) cluster setup and management. Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform). Experience with Kubernetes deployment tools like Helm, ArgoCD, or Flux. Strong networking and internet protocol knowledge. Understanding of identity and access management (IAM). Experience supporting production cloud infrastructure.

Knowledge of encryption (KMS), PKI, and OWASP. Experience with RESTful services. Experience with compliance standards like FedRAMP and NIST (800-171 | 800-53). Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus). Familiarity with IDEs and source control tools (Azure DevOps, Github, Gitlab).

Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, IT, Math, Physics, or related field. Expert knowledge deploying production-grade apps in AWS. Passion for infrastructure automation. Ability to prioritize work quickly. 3+ years in a cloud architect role designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant AWS systems. 8+ years in a cloud engineer role.
