Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - Part-Time Outpatient Role in Petersburg, VA

Foundations Health-Petersburg , part of Universal Health Services (UHS) , is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing team. This part-time outpatient role offers a unique opportunity to work with adult patients struggling with both psychiatric conditions and substance use disorders , including opioid dependence . As a PMHNP, you will play a key role in providing psychiatric evaluations , medication management , and admission to our outpatient treatment program (OTP) .

Position Overview:

The PMHNP will be responsible for:

• Conducting psychiatric evaluations and admissions for new patients entering the outpatient treatment program (OTP).
• Managing medication for patients with psychiatric and substance use disorders, including induction into Buprenorphine and Methadone treatment.
• Performing Histories & Physicals and writing orders for patient admission and medication titration .
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals to provide holistic care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform initial admission evaluations and ongoing psychiatric assessments for adult patients.
• Oversee the care and treatment of patients with mental health disorders and substance use disorders .
• Provide medication management , including Buprenorphine and Methadone induction.
• Work closely with our outpatient treatment program (OTP) and manage treatment protocols for patients undergoing opioid addiction recovery .
• Collaborate with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals , including psychiatrists, therapists, and counselors.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
• Board certification as a PMHNP .
• Active Virginia state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Experience in psychiatric care , substance use disorders , or opioid treatment is preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule:

• Part-time with hours to increase based on census growth.
• Available for admission evaluations 5 days a week , collaborating with the rest of the team to ensure full coverage.
• Minimal on-call duties , typically for dose clarifications or new titration orders during dispensing hours (5:30 am - 11:00 am).
